Mr Tibbs...
Due to the fact I literally
ran out of time with this project, which I'm actually quite upset about and
also the fact that the I had to restart the day before hand in, I only managed
to provided a walking animation of my meerkat. Over time however I intend to
improve this over the summer period. The first time i edited the video i noticed that my foot was attached to my body.
Therefore i had to re edit the animation as well as my character and below is a short video clip of the fixed foot. But then i realized i messed up the hat part of him but i really don't know how to fix it. :( I'm going to try and edit though tonight....Fun

New Day...New Beginning?
The day before the
deadline and of course I face serious issues. I decided however not to let
anything beat me and to continue on to the end. I spent virtually the majority
of last night unwrapping and placing the right clothes on my meerkat.
This morning, I actually
placed in the bones once more and skinned my meerkat for the second time. Below
is a few pieces of footage of my meerkat unwrapped and running as well as
walking.
Meltdown...
Last night I had a melt
down. I had my meerkat rigged as you saw, skinned and then I decided to unwrap
him for his outfit. HUGE MISTAKE.
Once I had Mr Tibbs
unwrapped and sitting to perfection in my eyes for my character, I pressed play
to watch him walk. But would he? No.
The bones all moved but
the actually geometry nope not a single movement.
Upset was not a word.
Skinning
The horrible task of
skinning, I honestly didn't think it would be so bad until I had to actually do
it. Below I simply included a small print screen to show my progress..

Rigging.... The FUN
Rigging a character has put a lot of pressure and unneeded
stress on me. I have completed the rigging three times and each time it messed
up. On my fourth attempt of simply rigging I feel that Mr Tibbs hasn't turned
out too bad. Below is a short animation preview, this is before skinning and
unwrapping. This was simply created via rigging.

3D Max Meerkat
Before I start modelling I
wanted to get a bit more research done only this time on actually 3d max
meerkats. When I first opened 3d Studio Max I thought this is impossible but
after researching this, I found it is is not.
Backstory of Mr Tibbs
Mr Hubert Tibbs was once a
sweet, caring little meerkat. He had many friends and was loved by all. Until
on fateful night, December 25th 1868 (Aged 12) his parents died in a cart
accident.
Since that night Hubert
became a recluse. He took his family fortune and built his own candle factory. At
age 24 he had a full running business but had no family and no friends.
Mr Hubert Tibbs has spent
the next 39 years alone with only his business as his legacy.

Meerkat Madness
Due to the fact that meerkats
are one of my favourite types of animals, I decided to try my look creating a
3d animation of one. Below are some reference points I have looked up for the
idea of my meerkat.
After looking over the idea of a meerkat I began to look at his character, I have not figured out all his quirks yet but I have figured out that I wanted him to be from the Victorian era. Therefore I began to look up the fashion from back then and I also looked up the film Sherlock Holmes as that was also Victorian.

Assignment Two
For assignment two, we get
to design our own character. To be honest this is more to my liking as I prefer
designing characters than objects or products. After much consideration I decide
to do Brief 4 - Your on your own:
"This is an open
project where you can design and build an character you like. The idea is that
you create an entire character reference bible before creating the character
and animating in 3d. You should think of environments, personality, traits,
environment and even back story."
Choosing
this brief I know I have a lot of work ahead of me…

Final Model
The last days have been a
mad dash to the finish line…. For my final model, I spruced up the material for
the outer box, added a spring effect to my Jester and added lighting effects to
the final model before rendering out the final model using a camera.
Of course I made probably
one of the hugest mistake for this was rendering out a 900 frame animation on
3D Max, talk about a nightmare. The length it took to actual render out the
animation was unreal and to make matters ten times worse I rendered the
perspective view, meaning I had to begin all over again for the camera view….

Pre Taster...
As I said below I have
included a short video on my quick animation. It's really quick so it's not the greatest and I am not finished…. yet

New Beginnings...
My last post to see the
least wasn't one to the best of my ability some from there I decided to start
over again and create a masterpiece all over again. I'm not going to babble on
this time, I'll let my images and snapshots do the talking…

From here I intend to
create the main overall box and material edit that. I have became animations
but have no short video, in the next post I hope to have the overall thing
finished, I may add textures or not, I'm not sure. But the overall structure
will be finished with a short animation.

Assignment One....
Creating my 3D model has so far had its ups and it's downs. Sometimes 3D Max works and others it decides to mess about… anyways, the story so far.
As shown in the previous
blog I have included a little Jester, and the actual Jack in a box, box. This
blog however is basically a continuation of that….

Creating the so called masterpiece… Again
Unfortunately I forgot to
take screen shots through out but ah well I was to excited and wanted to power
through everything else and create what I have created : )
Plus the previous post
shows how unprofessional the first attempt was, I was unhappy therefore I created
a new one. below I have included a
screen shot image of where I am at the minute with my 3d model.

And So It Begins.....
Friday brought the idea
parade to the university class of 3D animation…of course being human I was
nervous to present my idea but was incredibly relieved come the time it was
over and the idea was presented. This in
turn however meant that animation has to be created, it wasn't until I started
animating the Graphic Camera that I realised the difficulty of it.

Animation
Seeing that no matter how
hard I tried, or types in different scenarios I typed into Google, Ask, all the
other search engines I could not find inside, well deep inside the Crown
Graphic Camera. Therefore I had to consider a whole new idea for my animation
part of this assignment…..
Problem?
In the beginning I thought
so, but then I began to reevaluate the idea. I decided that I would first look
into the form of a Jack and a Box in order to create a new design to the Crown
Graphic Camera.
"For the animation, I intend to
open the box slowly to reveal the camera for the first time. The lid will then
open so that the bed will be placed for the camera to slide along the bed.
"
This part of the animation
was a send, I was always coming to create something like this, however when
finding deep inside the camera I had problems finding it. Therefore as I previously
stated, I had to rethink it…
"I decided that after that I would
rotate the camera to the back to reveal what little inside of the camera I could
find, but also I decided to animate a new piece of film being placed into the
camera itself."
And that is basically my idea = )
PS, I found this Youtube video showing me how to place a new image inside the camera.
